I’ve made this dozens of times and the family cannot get enough of this recipe!
In this recipe, we’re putting a new spin on a traditional favorite. With the addition of peach preserves, these cinnamon rolls become a delightful peach cinnamon roll fusion. The peach cinnamon rolls are fluffy, fragrant, and simply decadent, especially with a dusting of cinnamon roll icing. It makes a wonderful breakfast or can be enjoyed as dessert.
Ingredients:
For the Dough:
- 1 ⅓ cups warm milk
- 2 tablespoons butter, at room temperature
- ¼ cup sugar
- 1 package of Red Star Platinum Yeast
- 1 egg
- 4 cups flour
- ½ teaspoon salt
For the Filling:
- 1 cup peach preserves
- ½ teaspoon cinnamon
- For the Glaze:
- 3 tablespoons milk
- ¾ cup powdered sugar
- ½ teaspoon cinnamon
Instructions:
Step 1: Activate Yeast: In a large bowl, combine the warm milk, butter, sugar, and yeast. Let it stand for 5 minutes, or until the yeast mixture is foamy.
Step 2: Mix Dough: Add the egg to the yeast mixture and stir. Gradually add 2 cups of flour and stir until well combined. Add the salt and the remaining 2 cups of flour, ½ cup at a time, until the dough comes together and pulls away from the sides of the bowl.
Step 3: Knead & First Rise: Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead for 3-5 minutes, or until the dough is smooth and elastic. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for 45-60 minutes, or until doubled in size.
Step 4: Prepare Filling & Shape: In a small bowl, combine the peach preserves and cinnamon for the filling. Punch down the risen dough and roll it out into a 12×15 inch rectangle. Spread the peach preserve mixture evenly over the dough.
Step 5: Roll, Cut, and Second Rise: Roll the dough up tightly from the long side, pinch the seam to seal, and cut into 1-inch slices. Place the rolls in greased pie plates, cover, and let rise for 30 minutes.
Step 6: Bake: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake the cinnamon rolls for 22-25 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through.
Step 7: Glaze & Serve: While the rolls are baking, whisk together the milk, powdered sugar, and cinnamon to make the glaze. Drizzle the glaze generously over the cooled cinnamon rolls and serve warm or at room temperature.
