Ingredients

  • 1 sheet Puff pastry, thawed
  • 1 pound Ground beef
  • 1 cup Shredded mozzarella or Monterey Jack cheese
  • 1 large Egg, beaten

Directions

  1. Cook the beef: Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Brown the ground beef in a skillet over medium heat, breaking it into small pieces. Drain excess grease and let it cool slightly.
  2. Fill the pastry: Unfold the puff pastry and gently smooth the seams. Spread the cooled beef over half of the pastry, then sprinkle the cheese evenly on top.
  3. Shape the twists: Fold the empty half over the filling and press gently. Cut into strips about 1 inch wide. Twist each strip several times and place them on the baking sheet. Brush with beaten egg.
  4. Bake: Bake for 15–20 minutes, until puffed and golden brown. Let cool for about 5 minutes before serving.

Quick Tips

  • Keep the puff pastry cool while working with it for better results.
  • For extra flavor, add a little garlic powder or Italian seasoning to the cooked beef.
  • You can prepare the cooked beef a day ahead and refrigerate it until needed.
  • If the pastry becomes too soft, refrigerate the prepared twists for about 10 minutes before baking.

Serving Ideas

Serve these crispy beef twists warm with marinara, ranch, spicy mustard, or queso. They also make a great addition to a casual snack platter with pickles, olives, and fresh vegetables.

Storage

Store leftover twists in an airtight container in the refrigerator and reheat them in the oven or air fryer to help restore their crisp texture.
