Banana Upside Down Cake!!!

I love those recipes that we all grew up with, they are just too good to miss out on.Sweet, gooey, and delicious, everyone will go bananas for the moist texture of this banana upside-down cake. The upside-down cake recipe features a brown sugar-glazed banana topping over top of a sweet banana cake.

This banana upside-down cake recipe is easy, quick but also very original. With its melting texture and deliciously caramelized bananas, it’s hard to resist this gourmet dessert. The principle is the same as for a tarte tatin: the fruit is placed in the bottom of the mould, a caramel is made and the dough is covered. After a short passage in the oven, all you have to do is unmold this upside-down cake and then enjoy!

This is a tried and true recipe !! if you want to satisfy your sweet tooth, you cannot go wrong here. This is the way my Mother always made, just give a shot it won’t fail you !

 

Ingredients

+Dough :
°4 eggs
°100g sugar
°15 cl of melted butter
°12 cl liquid cream
°300g flour
°1 C. c. baking powder
°½ tsp. c. vanilla extract or liquid vanilla
°4 bananas
+The caramel:
°200g sugar
°5 cl of water

 

Preperation

1 Preheat the oven to 180°C.
Prepare the caramel by pouring the ingredients into a saucepan and leave on the heat until the mixture caramelizes.
Pour the hot caramel into a square mold.
Peel the bananas and cut them in half.
Place them in the mold on the caramel, arranging them in a harmonious way and the rounded part of the bananas at the top.

2 The dough: In a bowl, whisk together the eggs and sugar until you get a creamy mixture.
Add the melted butter and mix with a whisk, then add the liquid cream and vanilla, mix well then gradually incorporate the dry ingredients (flour and yeast). Combine it all.

3 Pour the batter over the bananas. Smooth the dough well.
Placing pan in oven for 47 min.
Check the doneness of the cake by inserting the blade of a knife into the dough and if it comes out dry, the cake is ready.

4 After baking, let the cake cool down then invert it on a plate so that the banana part is on top.
Taste.
